THE
BRIEF

The Robin Hood Network is a family of travel cards named after Nottingham’s famous outlaw, providing integrated bus, tram and train travel across the city and greater Nottingham areas. We were tasked with building a powerful creative platform which would resonate with local audiences, generate sales and assist with environmental wayfinding, before designing a user-centric mobile app and functional, conversion-driven website.

SOLUTION

The campaign had two objectives; increase travel cards users, particularly amongst the student population, and improve the travel experience for local residents and visitors to the city. We presented several creative solutions, taking inspiration from the city of Nottingham and its cultural heritage. The preferred platform was based around local landmarks and visual assets which signified movement and direction, whilst celebrating the city’s famous outlaw. Combining bright and vivid colours with arrows, targets and modes of transport, anchored by clever wordplay, the concept was both engaging and versatile.

Our design team established new guidelines before launching the brand across a range of materials including a multi-channel student campaign, leaflets, digital displays, bus shelter adverts and travel card designs. We were then tasked with applying effective UX and UI for a new travel app and website – integrating an upgraded digital ticketing system. The end result was an accessible and user-centric experience across both digital platforms, allowing customers to view travel routes, plan their journeys and book travel tickets with ease.
